It was the weekend we had been waiting for since we left Boston--the trip to Switzerland to be reunited with our beloved Tucker! Sarah's parents had been taking great care of him in Boston while we traveled and got settled, but we were *so* ready to have of fur-baby here with us. It's never as easy as it seems...
Sarah and the kids drove to Zurich through the most incredible roads ever. It's a good thing the rental car wasn't a Ferrari; something tells me we could have gotten in some great trouble...
Did I mention the reason we were on this road is that the highway was closed, so we thought we'd take another route? Sometimes the best things in life are unplanned :)
Of course some advance planning would have been helpful; my new phone apparently only works in Italy, so we had no way to contact Gary and tell him that we'd be late...

| Gorgeous scenery! What you don't see are the cows. Lots of cows. |

It got colder as we climbed--and foggy... but we finally made it.

We arrived Friday night and Tucker's flight didn't land until around 11 on Saturday, so we had some time to kill. We found a great little cafe with amazing artwork in it...and explored the darling downtown of Zurich. Did we mention the chocolate shop, where we spent an embarrassing amount of time?

At 11:00 we made our way to the Shipping Window...and that's where the chaos began. We needed to get paperwork from them--run to puppy customs--then to puppy vet--then back to customs...all of which would have been fine if customs didn't close at noon. FOR THE WEEKEND. And the customs man was not about to wait 30 seconds longer despite pleas from both us (look at the sorrowful children!) and the vet, who tried to expedite things for us.
Since customs slammed the door on us, we took the vet declaration and made our way into the airport to people customs. Left Gary behind so Sarah and the kids could look more pitiful, and then presented the puppy paperwork and two tear-stained children to the customs official. Clearly confused but not willing to engage the crazy lady, he gave us Tucker's Freedom Ticket. Yahoo!
